Our kitesurfing and wing foil location
We teach kitesurfing on the beaches of the Karikari Peninsula where we have beautiful beaches suiting every wind direction. We have flat water, waves, sandbars, ocean and harbours to choose from. So perfect conditions for any level, from beginner to advanced. All within the 25km long Karikari Peninsula.
We get so much of wind on the Karikari Peninsula that they named it twice! We get more kiteable days here than most of New Zealand.
We usually teach at Rangiputa or Tokerau Beach, depending on which way the wind is blowing, and will confirm exactly where to meet on the day according to conditions. We offer accommodation for kitesurfers and wingfoilers at Kite Camp or in our glamping tents, on Rangiputa Beach.
Rangiputa Beach
The beautiful white silica sands and turquoise waters at Rangiputa, lead people to call it the Fiji of the north. Rangiputa is the spot for any westerly winds with acres of waist deep flat water for beginners. Sandbars offer mirror flat water even in 25 knots plus, awesome for more experienced kitesurfers.
Airzone Kitesurf School has private access to the area of waist deep water at Rangiputa, which is perfect for teaching.
Tokerau Beach
This 18km long sweeping stretch of beach is good in any easterly wind. At the north end of the beach there are small waves, and the further south you go, the bigger they get until at the southern end, accessed via Ramp Road, you can get some serious wave riding in. Needless to say, we generally teach at the northern end of the beach.
